Bessel van der Kolk, a leading expert in trauma, spearheaded a randomized control study to examine the effectiveness of neurofeedback in the treatment of chronic PTSD. Compared to a waitlist control group who was still receiving “treatment as usual”, individuals who completed neurofeedback training had significant improvement in PTSD symptoms. In fact, 72.7% of the Neurofeedback group no longer met criteria for PTSD. Click here to read this open access article.

A meta-analysis published in 2021 found that neurofeedback significantly improved symptoms of autism spectrum disorders. Furthermore, studies have found that the effects of neurofeedback remained at a one-year follow-up.
