Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluations

Dr. Alessandra Shapiro provides comprehensive evaluations that assess the cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral profile and needs of each child. Every child’s profile and needs are unique, and she tailors each evaluation to meet the specific needs and presenting problems of the student. Evaluations include parent interview, review of developmental history and prior evaluations, comprehensive testing, full written report with recommendations, feedback to parents, and ongoing support.

Benefits of a Psychoeducational Evaluation

There are several benefits of a psychoeducational evaluation, including:

  • Identification and diagnosis of a learning disability, ADHD, or mood disorder
  • Insight into the student’s unique learning strengths and weaknesses
  • Person-centered recommendations to help the student reach their full potential
  • Objective data to support educational and testing accommodations

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the evaluations?

Assessments typically start with an intake with the parents/caregivers.  After the intake, an evaluation is scheduled with the student that typically takes place over 4 – 5 hours during one day.  Breaks, including for lunch, are provided during the assessment.  Some students may need to return for a second day of testing.

Will insurance cover the evaluation?

Dr. Shapiro is not in-network with insurance and evaluations are self-pay only. The Center for NeuroPotential can give you documentation for your insurance company should you choose to submit for out-of-network benefits.

How much do the evaluations cost?

The cost of the evaluation takes into account the amount of time spent performing the evaluation, as well as the time needed to interpret the results, write a comprehensive report, make person-centered recommendations, and provide feedback.  For these reasons, the cost of evaluations typically range from $3000 – $5000, depending on the complexity of the presentation as well as the requirements of the school or College Board.  Dr. Shapiro provides free phone consultations and will discuss her estimate based on the information provided.
